Behavioural Health Consultant Practice Lead

Permanent Full-Time 1.0 FTE (37.5 hours/week)

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Behavioural Health Consultant (BHC) Practice Lead is responsible for providing education, mentorship, and professional practice support to the BHC team on a day-to-day basis. This role is considered a specialist within their clinical field and plays a key role in supporting professional practice excellence across the organization.

The Practice Lead focuses on promoting awareness of and adherence to clinical protocols, standards, guidelines, legislation, scope of practice requirements, professional college and/or association standards, and Primary Care Network (PCN) policies related to their area of expertise. The primary emphasis of the role is hands on clinical education and training, which may include areas such as mental health services, social work services, and chronic disease management.

The Practice Lead works collaboratively with clinical teams, Quality Improvement, Human Resources, and Evaluation to support onboarding, continuous quality improvement, and standardization of professional practice. The role provides regular feedback to the Program Manager and indirectly supports Quality Improvement and Evaluation initiatives.

This position is Monday to Friday, in-person, at the EOPCN central office.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

  • Deliver and coordinate clinical education, orientation, and hands on training for frontline staff.
  • Support adherence to clinical best practices, guidelines, safety standards, EMR documentation, and EOPCN policies.
  • Develop, monitor, and adjust learning plans; identify competency gaps; maintain education and certification records.
  • Serve as a clinical resource to staff and communicate progress, issues, and risks to the Program Manager.
  • Develop and maintain specialty specific clinical policies, procedures, and competency frameworks.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and ensure clinical resources and patient education tools reflect current evidence and guidelines.
  • Stay current on healthcare trends, legislation, emergency best practices, and emerging technologies (including AI).
  • Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams, lead case reviews, participate in regular meetings, and support special projects as assigned.

 QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (e.g., Nursing, Psychology, Social Work, Pharmacy)
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in primary healthcare delivery, including facilitation or education; equivalent combinations of education and experience considered.
  • Teaching experience with healthcare professionals strongly preferred, mentoring or supervisory experience an asset.
  • Demonstrated in depth knowledge of discipline-specific best practices and approaches.
  • Current professional registration with the appropriate healthcare regulatory college required; role-specific certifications may be required (e.g., Behavioral Health Consulting, Certified Diabetes Educator, Certified Tobacco Educator, Mental Health First Aid, Suicide Prevention, or equivalent).
  • Strong facilitation, coaching, communication, organizational, and documentation skills; ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • A Criminal Record/Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector check
