Virtual Care, Real Impacts: A Greener Approach to Health
Patient travel is a major contributor to primary care’s carbon footprint. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the use of virtual visits has become a normal mode for the provision of care. By replacing in-person visits, when appropriate, the use of virtual care creates significant reductions in emissions from patient travel, as well as savings in clinic resources used. Additional advantages include improved patient convenience and access. This toolkit looks at the evidence for these benefits.
